Breakfast for Dinner

I don't know about you, but it seems that there are birthdays, weddings etc. every weekend lately. These next few weeks we are celebrating my Mom's birthday and we are very blessed that she is around for it- as she has fought 2 types of Cancer over the last few years. Happy birthday also to my little Sisters: Lisa and Diana!
Today I made Spaghetti alla Carbonara (pasta with bacon and eggs)from the Dolce Vita cook book. It was moist, I loved the tasty pancetta and the eggs were the perfect touch!

Stop and smell the pasta!

These days I need to really remind myself to stop and smell the 'roses'. Life is so hectic right now-between moving to a new house and helping my Husband start his new business. Hopefully everything will be done by September.
In the mean time,I did stop briefly to make Spaghetti alla Caprese (a Caprese pasta). Not sure if egg noodles was a wise choice for this dish as it was too filling. I do love Fior di latte cheese though, so I quite enjoyed this pasta dish.

Cooking at the Cottage

Sorry that I have been missing for a while. I have been up to this; swimming, drinking, reading and eating junk at the cottage this past week.
While I was there, I made Spaghetti Aglio e Oglio.
I have made this before but not with chili. It was a fiery hot dish. Just the way I like it!

Give your sweetie a bouquet of zucchini flowers!

I sympathized with David, when he wrote -in his Dolce Vita cook book- that he was embarrased to admit he ate zucchini flowers. That's because my MIL makes fritters with the flowers as well and we love it!
Now that the zucchini flowers are in season, I referred back to the Antipasti section of the cook book- and made Fiori di Zucchine (fried stuffed zucchini flowers).
This dish was HEAVENLY! You could taste a hint of the wine and the saltiness of the anchovies helped with the mild mozzarella. I ate this for lunch with some left-over Chardonnay. I will be making this over and over again!

"Children! Please play with your food!"

Yesterday I called my Zia Lucia in Torino Italy and when I heard her voice and accent, I just wanted to hop on a plane to Italy! Anywho, I am taking my Sister Julie out to dinner tonight- for her birthday, so I only needed to cook for the kids.
That's why I decided to make Pasta al burro di Giovanni. It was so creamy and chessy!

Lucas really enjoyed it and in this case he was allowed to play with his food too.
He enjoyed it so much that he asked for seconds, and thirds!
