...and on her farm she has some.. meat balls...

Looks like I forgot to show you my finished kitchen! Here is how the kitchen looked when we bought the house.
Here is my new finished farm style kitchen. I am absolutely in love with it and have been cooking up a storm in it already. I am loving all the extra space! My neighbours are awesome too and coincidentally; my neighbour Domenic went to high school with David Rocco- and showed me his high school picture :)
This evening I made Polpette di Acciughe (Anchovy Meatballs).
While I was frying the meat balls, you could smell the aroma from down the street.
I just loved this version and you could really taste the anchovies and wine. It was so tasty!

Popeye would like this!

It's tomatoe season and my In-laws were hard at work-making their tomatoe jars. Unfortunatley I didn't have time to help them this year, but thankfully they always make extra for us.
Today I couldn't wait try the Risotto Spinaci di Orsola, (Spinach Risotto). I saw David make this on his cooking show and I was salivating. It looked like a complicated dish but it certainly was not.
I really enjoyed the rich taste of this dish, as well as the creamy texture. Popeye would be proud!

Fagioli, fagioli; are good for your heart...

We are very much enjoying our new place and domani the kitchen will FINALLY be finished! Here is the yummy fruit cake my parents brought over when they visited us.
I needed a little cooking break the other day, but now I'm back and I decided to make Pasta e Fagioli.
Italians often eat Pasta with Beans and I liked this version- which included sauteed pancetta. It was a savoury dish for sure!

Being in Purgatory is not so bad

Wow, these past 3 weeks sped by so fast- with all the work we did to move into our new house! The kitchen cabinet area still isn't 100% complete, but here is a sneak peek. Do you notice David's cook book on display? :)
Here is the dining area of the kitchen. We went with the farm house look.
Last night my parents came over for their first official visit. I surprized my Dad with his favourite dish: Uova in Purgatorio (Eggs in Purgatory)- from the Dolce Vita cook book.
This was a simple and sumptuous dish! It was one of my favourites while growing up.
I set the table real pretty too.
I also made Spaghetti Aglio e Oli and ''Colazione del Contadino' salad. My parents were very impressed! They couldn't admit it -but I think out of my other Sisters- I cook the best food...lol!!
